Don't Forget About Your Golf Tees

By: JeffV

When you think of

golf, a golf tee probably Is not among the first things that come to mind. But, there are specific rules

within the game of golf that you must abide by to make the game legitimate. Some of these rules do have variations to them,

and these variations permit you to choose certain tools to use in your golf game. The golf tee is one of

these tools. If you are not familiar with golf, you may not recognize what a golf tee actually

is. Think of it as a device that

holds a golf ball off of the ground in a fixed position. You'll

discover that they are typically made of plastic or wood. It can only be used on the tee box for the first

swing to start a new hole.

For those who are familiar with the game, they understand the role the golf tee plays in their game. They have seen the pros using a tee, and have marveled at how perfect most of their shots seem to

be. By using different variations with a

tee, you will get different results with your golf shot. To get the best results you can, you will have to

use the tee according to pre-shot conditions. Some of these conditions are the club you're using, the

direction and intensity of the wind, or the condition of the tee box.

For example, let's look at the driver. It has been widely

suggested to have the ball teed up at least half an inch higher than the head of the driver. Because of the swing path when using the driver, this

is considered the ideal set up. The angle this postion creates will provide the ball the best opportunity to acheive ideal

height and maximum distance. As the driver is generally used more than any club off the tee box, this

method is the one you'll use the most. If the wind is blowing in your face, you will need to tee

the ball a bit lower. This will

keep the ball down so the wind does not catch it as much, causing you to lose a lot of distance. You may want to keep the ball teed up the

same if the wind is behind you. Or, you could tee it just a little higher, and let the wind carry it on for

some extra distance.

It takes a combination of many things working collectively, such as different tools and processes, to hit a

sound golf shot. The golf tee is considered one of these tools, because of its capability to produce the

ideal set-up for your ball. A lot of people do not realize how much influence the golf tee has on a golf stroke. Having the

ball teed up correctly is important. Whenever the ball is

teed up to high or to low, it may affect the outcome of the shot. For the best results, select the right club, make a nice,

flowing swing and remember, tee it up!
