Get That Hot Body Back After Giving Birth

By: Dawn Eastman

Okay, this is it; you are a new mother, the baby is finally here; and who is that in the mirror...that can't be you; you still have all that pregnancy weight to get rid of. There's no big deal about that; most postpartum women hold onto on average 10-15 pounds after delivery and in some cases it is more than that. What do I do now. So how do you expect anything to be any different if you don't put some serious effort into it; stop dragging around and get busy putting together a plan that will promote weight loss after pregnancy.

One of the main things you need to do now is get revved up bigtime about losing those stubborn pounds; then get with your doctor and work out a plan for weight loss that will include an eating plan and exercises, and get started....won't be a snap, but get started. The plan is wonderful and ready to be implemented, but if you have no drive to put it into gear, then it will not work; get busy and get it up and running.

Keep in mind that you will have to invest a lot of time and effort to pull this off, but don't give up and be enticed by those wacko rapid weight loss plans that say they can get you slim and fit in a matter of weeks...not gonna happen, they are scams. Even if you were in a normal physical state, these quick plans are nuts; but to use them for weight loss after pregnancy is downright crazy and dangerous for your body to handle.

This is the time to allow your body some time to heal and recover from all the swings it has recently gone through while navigating the pregnancy course; there was not only the pregnancy with all its inherent factors, but also the delivery and the toll that takes, and now breastfeeding. Your body has to have a breather too after all it's just been through, so steer clear of the rapid weight loss plans, they are lethal. 9 mos. is what you should aim for in dropping the weight and do it slowly, You should be aware that it took 9 mos. to get that weight on; so allow 9 mos. to drop it.

Get this; Mother Nature has thought of everything; your pregnancy weight gain is a necessary factor so your body is prepared to handle the burden of feeding the newborn who relies on you solely for food. We are still operating under the age old code that the mother is the sole support of the baby's nutritional needs and to do that, she must be totally prepared nutritionally herself. The baby is developed and has been born, and is now being weaned from breastfeeding; so the weight you have been carrying is not useful any longer, and the body begins to shed it gradually and naturally. It has been proven that when a new mother finishes weaning her baby, she notices that a lot of her postpartum weight is beginning to melt away.

An interesting fact here is that studies on breastfeeding mothers show them burning 700 calories a day. A major source of weight loss after pregnancy it would not be, but could be considered significant if combined with other weight loss plans. Weight loss is a nebulous thing; you need to figure in your eating plans, your exercise routines and all the other factors to be able to get the most out of it.

The most important factors here are that you need a weight loss plan that fits your lifestyle, that you can stick with, and will provide good sound nutrition to keep you on an even keel so you can breastfeed and take care of the baby as well as losing weight. It is not hard to stay healthy when you are taking care of a baby, just a fact that you must be; you cannot let your health slide nor suffer because ultimately the baby will suffer as well since he depends on you for life itself. Make sure your daily routine is one that you like and is sensible in all aspects. The plan can be the best, but if you don't like it, what good is that. Make sure you go over your plan carefully and that everything fits just right; that way you can enjoy your new life and your new little life, your baby.
