Grand Theft Auto 4 Playstation 3 Information

By: Jon Asslexiaha

Since the launching of the first Grand Theft Auto title, it has continued to reap success with its succeeding games and is recognized as one of the most popular gaming franchises in the industry. With each title released, it is a great leap not only for the franchise, but for video gaming itself. GTA certainly takes the lead in terms of the Sandbox genre, and everyone who has played it knows the reason for this. With this ninth iteration from the well-known series, GTA 4 picks off where GTA 3 ended. However, the series has given gamers with an entirely new experience with each game, and fans can certainly expect the same with GTA IV.

Although unique in their own way, each version of the series has been distinctly gripping and fantastic. However, with GTA 4, it aims to take the storyline to a whole new vantage point. In this game, players will get to immerse in the persona of Niko Bellic, who is a former soldier wanting to escape a troubled past, not knowing that more trouble await him in Liberty City. However, Niko is built for this stuff, and he does not have trouble blending in and easily finds Liberty City a great place to explore. GTA4 digresses from the highly volatile nature of past GTA characters; instead making it more objective-laden, which in turn makes this game a more absorbing play. If in previous GTA games you have engaged yourself in mindless rampages, with Niko you have to remain focused on the objective at hand and remain true to that.

Meanwhile, the vast array of characters that are present in GTA4 has never impacted the whole game and storyline setting as it does in this game. When Niko makes certain decisions, he will be forced to put into consideration certain characters and how that decision will be beneficial (or not) to him later on in the game. Not only that, the relationships you form in this game is a vital element in the overall gameplay, as well as the decisions you have to make, which will require careful thought from you.

As Liberty City serves as the setting for GTA IV, it needs pointing out that there probably has been no other videogame before that looked this stunning. With so much attention given to details, it is only fitting that it was created not only for the eyes but serves their purpose in the game.

But that is just a preview of what GTA IV is really about. It now sports elements that were either brand new, or much improved from past GTA games. The combat system is probably the best feature of GTA IV. Rockstar has decided to infuse some sophistication and depth into this game by providing more excitement into the combat, hence placing it next to some of today's best shooters. Although the free-aim feature might be a great way to practice your shooting skills, the lock-on feature still serves as a welcome addition for a sharper accuracy rate. By setting your aim on an opponent and locking on to them, not one bullet will now go to waste. And by a simple press of the corresponding button, you will see your enemies blasting to pieces. There is also a new cover system in this game. To make your character take cover from the nearest suitable object, just press R1. While in this manner, you will be able to effectively take cover from your enemies and it is also best recommended to use this feature when facing multiple enemies. What this new feature does is that you can minimize the any form of damage that can possibly get your character killed. These new features certainly help to upgrade the level of gaming experience that gamers were already expecting of a Grand Theft Auto game.

If that sounds impressive, then GTA IV's all-new in-car combat system will further heighten the thrill that comes with this game. GTA IV has definitely been made more exciting with this new combat system that promises to be just as effective as on-foot combat and yet a whole lot more exciting. You can drive your car while knocking down your enemies at the same time. You still have the option for a free-aim though, it's basically your choice. But it can be a daunting task sometimes having to make sure that you don't crash while you're doing your best to hit the enemies. All these features are aimed at continuing with the reputation of GTA over the years, and that is providing good, quality in-game combat.

One important thing that needs to be tackled when talking about GTA IV is the mission structure. With GTA's reputation as a truly one of a kind game, GTA IV has managed to make use of effective elements and incorporated some fresh new twists into it. With each mission, you will have all of Liberty City to explore and you can be assured that each mission will offer a unique, but equally challenging, experience. And with that being said, it's safe to assume that this is probably the best and most explosive release off the series yet.

While in Liberty City, Roman's phone will be used by Niko and plays a key role in the game. This will be used as your control panel and can be a source of information on what needs to be done to get the game going. Through your phone, you can receive calls or messages for new missions, as well as access the multiplayer features, that will help you advance in this game. Having to use the phone as a way to control the game is definitely innovative, and it creates this illusion that everything is happening within the world of the game, which is independent of the player's command.

Also, an exciting new addition to this new GTA game is the online multiplayer feature. This will enable you to share the wonderful experience of playing GTA IV with 15 other players and this will alter the way you have anticipated GTA IV to be. But GTA IV is determined to reign supreme among those considered epic games (like Call of Duty 4 and Rainbow Six Vegas) as the king of Multiplayer by infusing some more unique game modes.
