Indias Smallest State is Goa

The smallest India state is Goa. It is in the region known as the Konkan and is located on the west coast of India. The state capital is Panaii and it s largest city is Vasco da Gama. Margao is the second largest and most historic city.

Goa attained it s statehood on 30th May 1987. It is one of India s most laid back destinations. More tourists visit Goa every year then any other destination on the west coast of India

Tourism is the primary industry it handles 12% of all foreign tourist arriving in India. Goa has two main tourist seasons summer and winter. In the winter time, tourists from abroad come to Goa to enjoy the splendid climate. In the summertime which, is the rainy season, tourists from across India come to spend the holidays.

It is more than just beaches and sunshine. It is also the charm and magic of toxic resorts, a verdant green countryside, abundant wildlife and lush green forests, topped with the legendary warmth and hospitality of the Goan people.

The most popular souvenirs are terracotta, shell work, bamboo work, paper mache, brassware, crochet and carved furniture, available at the Government and State Emporiums. The another must-buy item is the indigenously produced cashew nuts available at almost every shop in different tastes from plain, salted to masala flavours. The price of these cashew nuts depends on their taste and amount.

Tourists can plan to shop from the traditional markets located in the small towns and villages. These markets symbolize the ethnic culture and the cultural heritage. The two renowned traditional markets are Mapusa Market and Anjuna Market. At the Friday Market at Mapusa, you get everything from dried fish and spices to curios and old coins. The Wednesday Market at Anjuna Beach offers a unique collection of handicrafts, beachwear, souvenirs and trinkets sold at bargained prices.

Music is always on hand at the night markets, with 4 or 5 acts per night, also including magicians, jugglers and speciality acts. Goa is the best place in India to visit, if you love to fun & frolic through the day and the night. Nightlife in is exciting and there are many ways to spark up the evening.

Water sports are to be found at Donna Paula, Baga and Aguada, with Jet Skis, Parasailing, Water Skiing and various objects being towed by speedboats. Scuba diving is on offer at Bogmalo beach along with tuition.
